Weddings at..... .....Natura Cabañas

Simply put, Natura Cabañas is an inimitable wedding destination!
Unique even in the Dominican Republic, you can anticipate that this, the most important day of your life, will be an unprecedented wedding celebration. Traditional or innovative, we will make every effort to implement your ideas and we will suggest some unexpected Natura touches.

Your wedding vows can be exchanged in a white wedding tent on our virgin beach or in our new yoga pavilion, (called a palacio by some) where the hushed silence is broken only by the subtle entrance of waves on the shore.

Our chef can prepare a nuptial feast that will include the freshest harvest of our waters. Our wedding coordinators will see to all the intricate details, from the photographer to the marriage "papers."

Natura Cabañas wants to be involved in the first chapter of the rest of your life. Let it begin under the sun and beside the sea.

Steps to getting married:

It is not necessary to get a marriage license in order to get your Marriage Certificate in the Dominican Republic. The first step towards getting your Marriage Certificate is that you register to be married with the Oficialia del Estado Civil (City Clerk). They will charge you a nominal fee for this registration.

The following is the paperwork that must be submitted in order for them to register you. To ensure these important documents are not lost in the mail, yet speed up the paperwork process, you can send the Oficialia del Estado Civil photocopies of these documents in advance and produce the originals when you arrive:

* Passports
* Birth certificates
* Single Status Affidavits that have been translated by an official Translator into Spanish at the Dominican Consulate where the document was issued.
* If divorced, the person(s) will require Divorce Certificate(s) that have been translated by an official Translator into Spanish at the Dominican Consulate where the document was issued. Please Note: If one of the persons getting married has been divorced in the Dominican Republic under the Special Divorce Law (link to 7.6 Divorce) (fast divorce provided in the Dominican Republic), this person will have to wait a minimum 24 hours to get married.

You will be required to have two witnesses to your marriage, besides the person who will perform your marriage ceremony. If these witnesses are not Dominican Republic residents, they will require Passports to verify their identity. If the witnesses are Dominican residents, they will require Cedulas (Dominican Republic identification cards) to verify their identity.

Civil Ceremonies

Once the marriage takes place, the Justice of the Peace that performs your Civil Ceremony will need to provide documentation proving the marriage was performed to the Oficialia del Estado Civil . The Oficialia del Estado Civil will then issue you a Marriage Certificate that is legal everywhere in the world.

Religious Ceremonies

Religious Ceremonies have more formalities than Civil Ceremonies. If you desire to marry at a church or synagogue, it may be wise to get our Wedding Planner to make the arrangements. You will have to fulfill all of the Civil Ceremony requirements, as well as some other formalities particular to the church or synagogue. For example, if you want a Catholic marriage and would like to marry at a Dominican Roman Catholic Church, your Archbishop may need to request permission from the Archbishop of the Diocese where you would like to marry in the Dominican Republic.

A Religious marriage has the same legal implications as a Civil marriage. In a Religious marriage, the Parish Priest or Rabi must send a copy of the marriage documentation to the Oficialia del Estado Civil within three days of the marriage, so that it may be registered. If a Civil marriage has been performed prior to the Religious Ceremony, the Parish Priest or Rabi must still send a copy of this documentation to be registered. The Oficialia del Estado Civil will then issue you a Marriage Certificate that will be legal anywhere in the world.
Please Note: If one of the spouses will be changing their name, or one of them will be applying for a Visa for the other spouse's country, it may be beneficial to also validate your Marriage Certificate at each of your country's Consulates or Embassies here in the Dominican Republic. To find out the details of what you may need, the costs, and the time required for this process, please check with your country's Consulate or Embassy to the Dominican Republic.
