A Valentine’s Day Filled With Self-love

A Valentine's Day filled with self love

When we think of Valentine’s Day, we sometimes think of it as a celebration for those who are in a relationship, but in reality, this holiday is the celebration of love and it doesn’t matter what our status is.

The ability to love is a sign that we are alive, which is why we should celebrate it every minute of every day, the most important thing being that loving others is only possible if we love ourselves. Self-love is where it all starts.

Over the years, it sometimes feels like Valentine’s Day has become a commercial holiday. We have associated this holiday with heart-shaped chocolate boxes, dozens of red roses or even expensive lingerie. These things aren’t wrong, yet we believe that love is in the actions rather than the things we possess.

That is why we have decided to dedicate this day to self-love. There are so many little actions you can make every day that have a major impact on your well-being. Below,m we have come up with a few actions that may help you become a better person for yourself and for others.

A Valentine's Day filled with self love

1- Make time for yourself

These days, time is one of the most valuable gifts you can offer to yourself and to others. In this performance-based society, we sometimes feel the need to be everywhere at the same time.

Try planning time for yourself when making your schedule, moments where you will be free to choose what you feel like doing. And, if you choose to do nothing, there’s nothing wrong with that.

The ability to be alone is very representative of our ability to be self-entertained. Like pretty much everything in life; it is a question of balance.

You have to train yourself to stay alone, and over time, it will become natural. Just start with a shorter period of time, then increase the frequency and duration.

Eventually, you will notice the benefits and it will even lead to improving your relationships with others.

2- Learn to say no

It can be difficult to say no. By fear of disappointing others or by feeling guilty.

We all have our own limits that other people do not know of, and it is our responsibility to communicate with them.

Helping others should bring satisfaction, rather than frustration. You have to know how to impose your limits and recognize when you have too much going on. You will sometimes be surprised to see how many people will understand and show respect.

It’s important to say no so we can pay attention to things that matter the most to us. It takes time to take care of ourselves, and if we don’t take that time, we can’t take care of anyone else.

3- Strive for a healthier lifestyle

Any choices that contribute to wellness and satisfaction can be categorized as healthy choices. As soon as you pay attention to your physical and psychological well-being, you will feel better.

Find a workout you actually enjoy, practice mindfulness, say no to extreme dieting, get outside regularly or get enough sleep, these are all examples of habits that can make a difference in the way you feel about yourself.

Have you ever noticed how satisfied you feel when you’ve had a day filled with healthy choices in comparison to a day where you’ve made choices that don’t make you feel good about yourself?

4- Start a gratitude journal

It is scientifically proven that gratitude helps our lives in many ways. The feeling of gratitude can improve relationships with others since it reduces social comparison and allows you to feel happy for other people’s accomplishments.

Being thankful improves both physical and psychological health. Some scientifically proven benefits include less anxiety, improved self-esteem and even increased mental strength.

Spend just 10 minutes jotting down a few grateful sentiments before bed, and you may even sleep better and longer.

These are only a few examples of easy actions you can make for yourself. It doesn’t have to cost any money or involve any big preparations. Self-love is accessible to anyone.

But more concretely, whether it’s taking a long bath, watching a movie you love or staying in bed on a Sunday morning, what’s important is that you are thinking about yourself and whatever you choose gives you the feeling that you are exactly where you want to be.

Because don’t forget that you are the most important person in your life.

We wish you a pleasant Valentine’s Day filled with self-love and kindness.
